Disclaimer: I am probably further to the left than you are. Hell, I am damn near a communist.
Dismissing republicans as stupid allows you to remove yourself from the political discourse. It is dismissive at best and ignorant at worst. The real question is whether or not the Republican's interpersonal philosophy and political philosophy is something to be mocked or something to be analyzed and defeated in debate. Clearly, if one is unable to debate intelligently then mocking is the only alternative.
