Why American football is so popular in USA? I mean no other country plays it right? So why it SOOOO popular in USA? I think soccer much much popular!

canada has a football league as well, known as the cfl, which has a very long history. but it isn't as popular.
one big reason for the nfl's popularity is that it's easy to follow for men with jobs.
all of the games during the season happen on sundays.... so that's very convenient.
and since there are only games on sundays, there are less of them during the year (16 games for each team per season) so every game is very important.... unlike baseball, for example, which has a ridiculously long 160-game season.
and most importantly, it's a beautiful game. once you watch a little of it, you'll see it isn't all that complicated.
the key is to just watch it, and once you become familiar with the rules and the players and teams involved, it's easy to get hooked.
you'll soon have your own favorite team and players, and all that stuff.
personally, i like high-powered offensive teams most who like to throw the ball down the field.
believe me, it's the best sport we have over here.....
much better than baseball, basketball, hockey, tennis, etc....
i can't include soccer, because i'm not familiar with it.
maybe i'll try to catch more world cup games.

American Football has a huge history in the US going back to the early part of the 1900's and late 1800's. Soccer is a relative newcomer sport compared to American Football. Maybe soccer will have the same following in America that football does in another 50-75 years. Until then we will just have to continue watching American Football. Go Chiefs!!!!!

There is a fairly new football stir in some other countries brought on by the European League---but essentially your right--Football as Americans know it is fairly much an American game----the country has it's soccer (football to you) advocates but the game of American Football is very very popular across the country
One of the things about the game that is the most intreging is the play by play strategies that are incorporated in the game---each and every play whether on offense or defense---- the team is at a strategy for the ball and for the yardage--as you learn the integrail details of the game--very specialized approaches and very subtile nuances begin to emerge---I do agree that soccer is--much much popular in all the other countries and to that we say MARVELOUS--happy for you---but--on the other hand---you haven't seen any international crisise coming from American Football either ---have you ????

There is also the Canadian Football League (CFL) and NFL Europe. American football is so popular because it is the real past-time of America. Soccer is gaining in popularity, but the favorite sport in America is football. The reason why is that on any given Sunday, any football team can beat another football team. There are no teams that win every single year because they pay their players large salaries because they have the money. Every team has a chance to win.

Where are you from...TEAMusa is all over europe...they play football.
i coach football in Germany, it's all over Europe with 5 separate adult levels, a youth, and even a ladies league. Yes...women in Europe play American Football.

it's popular because a lot of people play it and watch it. That, by definition, is popular. We are not as good as soccer and therefore-it is not as popular. Many Americans think soccer is BORING to watch. Football has much more drama and scoring and television closeups - thus a more entertaining atmosphere.

Tradition. In my family, anyway. My uncle always coached Pop Warner football(like little league baseball). They start @ 8 or 9 years old. And now my brother coaches @ the local High School.
We like to do things our own way. It's called individual spirit. That's why we don't bother switching to the metric system.

Like with everything else, we don't care whether the rest of the world likes football or soccer. We like football, we don't care what you like. Why would we decide what to like based on what other people think?
Soccer is much more popular the way books written for low IQs are much more popular. You have the mainstream, everybody-can-play-it game. We have the unique, higher-skilled game. Gee, I guess you win.

If soccer was full contact then I'd watch a lot more of it.
I guess American's just like to watch people get hit more than other countries.

I like soccer better. Football didn't take off in other countires because of the price of the gear. Many can't afford it. I personally hate American football...
