No I dont think so. All Professor McGonnagal said was that the Yule Ball was "A chance for us to let our hair down". Harry thought that was pretty weird since he couldnt imagine her with her hair down...im kinda obsessed lol but there u go.

No. It was more than likely added in for comic relief (i.e. Ron's reaction and Fred and George's teasing later on). Plot wise (for the film, at least), it stresses the importance of the Triwizard Tournament, primarily the interaction between the schools (the dance integrates the schools, etc.), and it also brings to mind Harry's coming-of-age, dealing with Voldemort and then dealing with everyday things like interacting with girls (i.e. Cho).
I enjoyed the extra plot line they threw in. It made me laugh. :)

No, that didn't happen. It's just one of the many plot changes that time constraints force studios to do. Overall, it was a good adaptation, but there are lots of things I wish they had kept truer to the book.
