I mean, is the world being taken over by rap and rock? I think we should get together a new Jazz Messengers or something so that this great tradition doesn't die out. What do you think?

Jazz Rocks! I love jazz. We are part of a shrinking minority it seems. Rock is always going to be around and yes I like rock. Rap, I hope, is on the way out. I used to look at the charts and on average maybe 8 of the top 10 CDs or songs used to be rap or hip hop. Lately its maybe 2 out of 10. Maybe 3. So theres hope.
My problem with jazz is it needs something new, like fusionl. "Smooth jazz", the latest "style" gets boring and repetitive. Jazz needs a kick in the butt, something new like fusion was or bebop was way back before my time. Actually fusion is what opened me up to jazz.
