For example, a job interview, a new relationship, or in my case a lot of times, a big sale? You go in for a job interview, let's say, and it goes really well. You're all psyched and go around telling people that you just KNOW you're going to get the job! And then you don't. Don't you feel kinda foolish when people ask you how your new job is going, the job you didn't get? I learned years ago to keep tight-lipped about exciting prospects in my life until they were pretty solid; I was just wondering if it was superstition on my part, or if you all have noticed the same thing! :)

I've often wondered the same thing. But you've gotta put yourself out there, take some risks, tell people what you are excited about. Your good friends will support and encourage you through failures and successes alike. They know we are all human and life often takes unexpected turns. Plus, whatever you talk about the most is what you'll create in your life--speak your dreams into existence. By sharing a big goal, you are committing yourself to the effort it takes to reach it. As long as you commit and follow through with the process, you should feel good about yourself, even if the results aren't perfect.

Lol....I am definitely afraid of jinxing things that I feel are going well. Ive been dating a guy since February and I was telling my mom about him last month and she was asking for details and I all of a sudden invisioned me telling her all the great details about him and than calling her the next day to tell her that me and mr. right were over.
I know its silly, but perhaps its just better to keep my enthusiasm to myself until things are a forsure thing
So I think you and I probably feel the same way about this sort of thing.

Yeah, sometimes.. but as I am keeping it to myself I don't let doubt sneak in either. SOmetimes I think I have ruined things that were solid by second-guessing myself ( my own little superstition I guess) So instead now I just keep it to myself all the while I am re-affirming that it has already happened.
It works for me. It also helps me to stay in a place of gratitude about any new opportunites but not get too attached to them...

i have, and what i do now , is keep my mouth shut or telling people half the story , like , the job interview... i only say that it went well but am not expecting anything (even tho u know inside of you that it went really well and u r dying to tell someone...) just keep it tight until u know the real final facs.

OH YAH! I never say anything until it is a 100% foresure thing. I didnt tell anyone when I won that 56 million dollar lottery until I got the check.

telling everyone that youre sure to get the job heightens the pressure of the interview, thats why ppl who brag dont ussualy get the job. jinx/bad luck has nothing to do with it - personally

You have to watch what you tell people. A lot of people can't stand that you are doing something great or something great is happening to you. So they will jinx it for you.

I say stay as private as you can.

Yes I am. If I were you I would keep my mouth shut so nothing bad happens. If something bad does happen I would try to make it turn out different or just let it go.
