I believe that NY is not ready for any major disaster that might occur. One of the reasons I think this is that there are not serious drills to practice what would be done if a flood were to happen. Every person just goes around their busy day.

NO... simple answer
There is a spot on the NYC.gov website that shows if your building would have to be evacuated if there's a flood. I think it's based on how far away from the harbor you are. Of course I am across the street from the Hudson River...
My building is not at risk of evacuation.
There are also sites for "emergency pantry" - what to stock up on.

I assume that you're from or in NYC. Do YOU know of any emergency evacuation plan in place? Do you HAVE an emergency evacuation plan in place yourself? Does your family or friends. Do you have supplies on hand in case of power failure? If you answered no to any of these questions - you have your answer.
