Jaripo is in the municipality of Villamar and near the city of Jiquilpan, Michoacan in Mexico. The mountains look like volcanoes and the rocks are very porous and similar to lava like rocks.

Note: This area is on the southern end of Lake Chapala and outside of Sahuayo/Jiquilpan and on the way to Cotija. They are not to be confused with the Paricutin volcano which is very far from this area.

Almost all of central Mexico has a volcanic history. A few miles south of there is the famous Paracutin volcano. The most active volcano in Mexico is on the Jalisco/Colima border.
