I don't have much, but I do have enough that a cosmetics bag is too small. I don't need a drawer system or anything-- that's too big. I need some way of making everything accessible without taking up too much space. Any suggestions? It's foundation, loose powder, blush, <10 eyeliners, <20 lipsticks, glosses, etc. 6ish eyeshadow cases, some square and some stout/round. I also have a blush brush or two, eyeliner brush, concealer brush, some mascara, and a few other miscellaneous items.

Ideally, I'd like it all to be on my dresser, and I find caboodles/ tackle boxes to be too plastic (doesn't match my decor!) and/or large for a dresser top.

OK your best bet is to go to sephora where you can get a nice, non-plastic, good quality, makeup case. Virtually a makeup artist trunk, but much smaller. Just organize your things in there, trash anything faded, off smelling, or old. Keep your most used items at the top and least used at the bottom or organize according to your routine (i.e. I'd put the foundation on first so I'd put it at the top, and lipstick on last so I'd keep it near the bottom). As for your purse just keep essentials in there, like your favorite lip gloss, and in the morning put in the things that you're wearing that day, for example you're wearing the foundation, concealer, powder, blush, an eyeliner, a lipstick/gloss, mascara, and shadow. Bring in the purse only the liner, lipstick/gloss, shadow, and brushes needed to apply the things and a compact.

They have these adorable little boxes on ebay and in stores like sephora that are like caboodles, but come in metal, fabric or funky prints. They come in a variety of sizes too. Or you can get a cosmetic organizer. Its a fabric case that is like a binder, it has little pages you can put in it, either mesh or fabric. It also has little pencil and brush holders. I have one that I carry with me (I work long hours lol) and it holds quite a bit.
Another thing that I do (I have a LOT of cosmetics) is get a few little vanity trays or shallow baskets. to put my makeup on. THe trays I have now have my lipsticks and glosses in one and foundations, powders, blushes and lotions in another. The links below are of the planner and the second a vanity tray.

You can probably even find some relatively cheap make-up specific organizers, but I'd also head to someplace like The Container Store. They have lots of oddball containers that could easily be adapated to make-up. Personally I use a tacklebox, but my make-up sits in the bathroom not in the bedroom, so I'm less worried about it clashing with the look.

buy a cabboodle! It's used to store makeup! They look like cute boxes with different colors! I use a three drawer storage unit! It's on wheel so I can take it anywhere in the house with me! It's easier to find things in it too bc it's so big!

get a train case or use a fishing tackle box. You need something with a lot of compartments

that's precisely what i exploit ... correct drawer for face issues (foundation, powder, blush); second drawer for lips (gloss, lipstick); third drawer for eye stuff (shadow, liner, mascara). works large!! save round somewhat extra, you could truly stumble on a more not pricey 3-drawer organizer.

first off. leave the makeup at home that you dont need "that day." then just get another bag as a main makeup bag and alternate what makeup you carry with you.
