If you are truly disabled and can prove it in a federal court, you can get benefits. If you fail to prove it, you do not get them.
this is necessary because some peole fake disabilities to get free money. ( i know, it is sad that we all have to suffer for the actions of the few)
so you are wrong.
society does provide for disabled people between ages of 18 and 65. Surely theer has to be requiremenst imposed to assure freedom from fraud. under 18 and over 65 are PRESUMED disabled. That is very humane.

Perhaps the real question is who should be responsible for the disabled and unfortunate?
Hasn't anyone notice that the federal government sucks at this stuff? How many failed attempts do we have to see before we stop this madness? FEMA, Social Security, Medicare, the welfare state, HUD, blah, blah, blah, and more blah. The government cannot manage care and compassion to bring about a better society and community.
If someone knows of a place on this planet where hundreds of millions of people of varying cultural background have come together and built a bloated bureaucracy that works at caring for all it's people and ensuring life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, please let me know where it is.
Lets get the federal government out of the business of babysitting, insuring, and caring for our friends, families, and neighbors. If we are too self-absorbed to do this work for the people in our own communities, then as Americans we do not deserve the privileged position we have in the world, and may god have mercy on our souls.

Something like that happened to my daughter. We live in California so your state may ne different. This is what happened. She as a child (when 10) became disabled to to health problems that are physical. When she turned 18, they said she was no longer 'disabled' Their reason was beacause the guidlines for an adult are different than for a child. Why? I don't know. It's stupid. She still has titanium rods in her back, she still has tumors around her heart, kidney and spinal column AND she is in worse pain than before. We asked for an appeal. The judge was mean, but the doctor that gave his opinion said the med she was taking will make her tired all of the time, the vocational lady said my daughter would need to have breaks about every half hour or so and lying down if she needed to. and that NO employer would give her that. Reluctently the judge gave her back her SSI BUT said he will see us in 2 years. We have a year to go and one tumor is now 10 cen. big cau7sing pain in a new area. I say FIGHT it. See doctors and get a lot of documentation from them HEY do this contact me cuz I'm gonna run out of room . OK

What state do you live in. Things are not that bad here in Michigan. I get Social Security Disability only for Bi- Polar Disorder. I'm sur they would give it to you before they gave it to me. Howver, money is a factor. I do not presently have a job. Gee it's kind of like they want to discourage you to work. If I were you, I would appeal.

Also, I am 31

in my opinion , the govt. puts alot of issues above its own people. the people in need here in America are ignored . but also i feel people with disabilities are over looked because it makes others feel uncomfortable.....for whatever reasons. and i also think that people believe that if they ignore whats in front of them ..maybe it will go away. sadly... disablities dont go away and the people with them need the attention from the govt. to make sure all people with disablities are pretected and cared for in a respectful manner and funds should be made available to those who are in between 18 and 80 and are trying to make ends meet like the rest of us.
