Our best tool is information and to arm ourselves with it. the Government wants information, our information. Yet they feel that our information is more crucial to them than our rights. If other people can make better decisions than we can why did we separate ourselves from a monarchy 230 years ago. Talk to your friends, Vote and incourage your friends and family to vote.

There is one positive, but difficult way to do this. Start up another political party. Some may guffaw at this but it has worked in other countries. Most changes have taken on countries with parliamentary systems but there have been some presidential styles that have changed.
It is easier to do this in a parliamentary system which is superior to presidential system as the government can be kicked out by lack of confidence votes from the parliament which is the people
The only way to get rid of an federally elected official in the U.S. takes impeachment in some form. You are stuck with him(them) for the term.
Yep. Get together with some Friends and start up a new party.( Talk to Ross Perrot)

The question wasn't, "do we have rights?" Obviously compared to the previous tyranny in Afganastan, we have more rights than them. Of course in our attempt to "help" them, we really put the power into a select few other tyrrants, but that is another discussion altogether.
The question was how do we change something that is many times larger than ourselves, technically speaking the entire US population larger than ourselves. We need to change by raising the bar. Should we continue to base our level of freedom on the most deprived countries, we look like gold, but what about what we had before the "terrorist threats?" When the FBI can hand you a letter with an automatic gag order and forced compliance WITHOUT a trial, we are not free. When the government can lock people away from years without a trial, we are not free. Freedom is the right to do what you wish without harming others. Were the libriarians who were served "the letter" by the FBI criminals? Absolutly not, and when they stood up to the FBI, they spent a year in court and made out to seem like "un-American." However, that is how we must act. Our country is not to a point yet to warrent armed conflict as referanced earlier. However, it does warrent a change. We need to fight with words. Stand up to newly found oppressors and tell them you are free. We are not some tool for use by a government that they can shut up and demand service from on need. They are here for us, not the other way around. The real threat is not from terrorism, but without ourselves. What amount of our previous ideals and atitudes have we given away in the name of safety? Technically, you are more likely to fall through a street gate than be a victim of a terrorist, however how many street gates do you see randomly arrested? The change we must make is within ourselves. We must not accept a bleak soulless future where we are barcoded robots in the name of a few dangers. We must tell ourselves the real threat is ourselves and make a change in our attitudes.

It's probably not correct to answer a Q with another Q...but I feel compelled:
Can you name one (legal) thing that you want to do that you are prevented from doing because of the "trampling of your rights" by your government?
There are people all over the world who would love to lecture you about trampled rights (lots of them in Afghanistan under the Taliban and Iraq under Saddam Hussein).
We are the most free society in the world. And as such, we are free to ask stupid, baseless questions in a public forum with no fear of official reprisal (other than the snickers and negative judgment of those to whom you expose your ideas).
Go ahead and protest. But be thankful for the right to protest as well.

Stop buying crap from other countries! pass this on! People don't realize that their money is going to all the other countries! This has been going on for way too long!
Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN
JAPAN) for 6am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he
shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG).
He put on a dress shirt(MADE IN SRI LANKA),designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA).
After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car
(MADE IN GERMANY) filled it with GAS from Saudi Arabia and continued
his search for a good paying "AMERICAN JOB".
At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer (Made In Malaysia), Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals
(MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered
why he can't find a good paying job in.. AMERICA.....
