There's millions of words that describe life, but is there any word thatr sums it all up? I've always thought it was "creation" but then the importance of other aspects in life became more clear to me and I couldn't decide which one is most important.
This is a very opinionated question which can involve religion. This could be debated over for hours.

Just give me something I can consider. Thanks for your time
:-)

I don't usually answer questions unless I actually have an answer, but this one and the answers I see so far are crying out for a comment. What on earth does the question mean? Life is not based on a word. And Jen seems to think that life only involves humans; I don't see how love has much to do with the trees, the grass, the insects in my yard, and they are certainly alive. Life EVOLVED, and, defined as something like differential survival of individuals as a result of random inheritable mutations, evolution might be the word you are looking for.

I don't think there is such a word in the English language to describe it; I've often thought about this myself.

If I had to choose one I'd say 'love'.

Love is the basis for all life on Earth.
Love keeps us going, helps us survive.
If we don't feel loved then we shut down, or give up.
Love makes us compassionate & empathetic to others.

It's vital for us to feel loved, to have friends, to have a partner, to have children, to believe in a higher power.
We have these desires because we were created with love & it is our main quality.

EDIT

~mlamb56~
I, personally, believe that the trees, bugs, etc. that you mentioned were created with love for humans. We could have been created and put on a boring planet with just the things we need.
However, God created different people, animals, foods, insects, trees, plants, flowers, etc. for our enjoyment.
Hence, everything on the earth was motivated by love.
That is my belief.
I respect your decision to believe in the theory of evolution, and expect the same from you.

I agree with the guy who pointed out the fallacy of defining life only in terms of humans, especially since we are the species that destroys most. To me life is energy, regardless of what causes it or what ends it. When energy leaves the body, whether plant or animal or insect or whatever form that life takes, life is extinct.

Change.

Whether meaning evolution, migration, movement, mutation, or even the simple cycle of birth and death, change is the only constant factor to life.
