Homey, ignore all the bullshit that everyone is going to say about no rhythm or genetic make-up. That's all a load of CRAP. Few things in life come naturally. Black people don't just come out of the womb with rhythm and moves. Dancing is a huge part of black culture. Most black people are introduced to dancing at an early age and continue to do so all their lives. White guys are introduced to heavy metal, punk, classic rock and stuff and are told from a very early age (by society) that we can't dance because we're white - so we don't even try. Well there are few white WOMEN that don't LOVE to dance and they do it all the time and no one says white women can't dance, so I find it hard to believe that it's a racial setback that causes this. If dancing were more a part of our childhood (and culture in general) we would be much more comfortable on the floor. My mom showed me how much fun it is to dance at an early age and I can't thank her enough for it. Chicks are in super-sexual mode when their moving those hips. I get to take advantage of the silly stigma put on white guys and reap all the rewards by breaking that mold. White guys can dance- they just don't know it...

I feel we adore to bounce we simply do not consider the tune. Its like there's no beat within people. So whilst tune does come on we're constantly off by way of a a million/two beat or for a few particularly dangerous dancers an entire beat. Top is off with plenty of self recognition and you've got a number of white ppl who can not dance. LOL

I can't answer for all, but for me I think you have to feel the music. Feel the beat, hear it, and go with the flow.

My husband can't dance, never could.

I have taught my kids and thier friends how, not saying I'm the greatest, but you just have to feel it. I also told my sons one friend this. If you can't dnace, you can't fu*k, and if you can't fu*k, you can't dance.

You have to get the hips moving, and practice the rest. Just because they have sex, doesn't mean a darn thing. Plus you have to have some rythum in you.

There are a lot of white people who can dance, but the black people are just born with rythum, I think. They move so fluid, like water. They are just great dancers. So are latin people.

But I guess it also matters which kind of dance you are talking about. The street dancers, Hip Hop, ball room, jazz, contemporay, ballet, or just club dancing.

There are different forms, and each dancers, dance well in thier style. It is just some are better then others. Everyone thinks they dance fine. I know some don't, but heck, if thier haveing fun, who cares. Let the person enjoy themselves, and have fun yourself.
Thanks for asking the question, and have a nice night.

We just lack the genetic make up. Just like we will never win a mens 100m athletics sprint. I did a univeristy study into the running and found that white people didn't have as many fast twitch fibres as black people do, thus not allowing white people to run as fast. But the dancing, that would be an interesting study. I guess a lot of culture, eg an African hertiage and dancing from a young age would come into play.

Hey I've seen white people that can dance, I'm not one of them though. Not that I care what others think about my dancing as long as I don't look like Elaine from Seinfeld I'm good to go!

Give me a beer or two and I dance circles around you.... but don't ask me to dance if no drink. Isn't that weird? I'm not even a big drinker. I just loosen up after a few.....lol but maybe I can't dance and nobody has the heart to tell me! Thanks for making me think about that.... I think.

Sheesh-I wish I knew! I envy those who can.

Looking at my own life and speaking for no one else, I would say it is due to a lack of self-confidence early on in life, which prevented one from learning.
