I think it was horrible, Auld is going to be better in a few years, Allen was needed, especially with Jovo leaving and now Luongo won't sign a long term deal and is asking for way too much.

I think Florida got the better deal. Bertuzzi is now showing how over rated he always was. He's nothing, he's a goon and he won't be able to perform without some one like Naslund there feeding him pucks. I've never hated Todd, but I've always hated the amount of attention he received, I think he's an excellent third or fourth line winger who can rattle teeth when the time is right, but other than that, he's not much. I think Vancouver will probably be kicking themselves when they see Allen emerge as a top player in Florida. As for the goalies, Auld will be good, Luongo will be good. They are both at about the same level right now and I don't think Luongo will keep asking for all this money once he realizes that with the cap in place, nobody who has a glimpse of the playoffs in there dreams let alone a chance at winning the Stanley cup has enough salary room to afford him. He'll have to settle. And as for the whats his name that Florida sent over with Luongo, he's a flash in the pan, I think the Vancouver scouts made a big mistake in wanting him. We'll have to see how things pan out during the next season though. The true test of how good the deal was will be when the goalies show us what they've got. I personally would have liked to see a straight across trade, Auld for Luongo. That would have been better for Vancouver. Now let's see if the Oilers will be stupid enough to trade Chris Pronger...

I think it could be very good for both teams, but I give a slight advantage to Vancouver.
What the nucks really needed was a strong goaltender, which they got. Bertuzzi wasn't producing for them and you could see that after the whole Steve Moore thing, he really needed a change in scenery. He just didn't look like he was enjoying playing in that jersey anymore. Allen was brutal... I've never seen so many stupid penalties, my god. I'm glad to see the Canucks get rid of him and free up space for someone more effective. Auld might be good... but not as good as Luongo. Give him what he wants and change the team up a little bit. They have a decent amount of salary space. If I were the canucks, I'd be going after Jaro Spacek after July 1. I think he'd fit in very well with the team and be a not-so-expensive D man who can provide.
For Florida, hopefully Bert will be able to provide all their young players with some insight. He's a tough, solid player who's still pretty young and can actually lead on the ice so that the Panthers don't have to depend on the always injured and aging/aged Gary Roberts or Joey N.
Now if only the Canucks get rid of Morrison and put someone who's a little bit less of a headcase in there, I think things will start looking up. As long as you have the Carter, Sedinx2 line in tact, I wouldn't worry all too much.

If Vancouver can sign Luongo to a long term deal, it will be a steal for Vancouver, but if they both become FAs after this year (as I suspect they will), then the trade is almost a wash, but it will depend on who takes their team further.

Vancouver had to move Bertuzzi along because the whole "incident" was just plain bad karma. As far as Luongo goes, we'll just have to see how he plays.

Bertuzzi had to go. It's like the Danny Heatley scenario. As far as the other players are concerned, you'll have to wait and see. I'm a Leafs fan - I'm getting used to waiting.

vancouver had to get rid of bertuzzi due to bad press and such. He needed a fresh start. But still i think florida got a steal.
