First... Galveston isn't a state it's a City. I'm assuming Texas. If your family is asking you to leave, then there isn't anyone that can report you as a runaway. Besides you're 17, at 18 in all 50 states you're considered an adult. It also depends on what state you go to, what their laws are. Most states have a website where you can find the information. Don't know the law regarding age -but- if you do run away , run away to somewhere SAFE otherwise you could find yourself in a worse situation .Make a plan . Safety may only be 5 minutes away. Look for an adult you can trust .Someone you know who has ALWAYS kept their word - a teacher ? a doctor ? a minister ? - someone who will respect your need for confidentiality . Good luck .

Galveston is not a state... its a city. If you can prove you can support yourself then you can be emancipated.
