I think we like to dance we just don't feel the music. Its like there is no beat inside of us. So when music does come on we are always off by a 1/2 beat or for some really bad dancers a full beat. Top is off with a lot of self consciousness and you have a bunch of white ppl who can't dance. LOL

LOL...I think the answer is that in the majority of European cultures, the music we have danced to hasn't had an obvious "beat", and our dances have been very structured. Everything from line dancing to square dancing to Irish dancing (i.e. Riverdance) has been about memorizing a particular set of moves in a sequence. African music, for example, is highly rhythmic, has a discernable beat, and dancers have more freedom to invent moves. I guess you could just say that white people for centuries, have had no rhythm. I certainly don't!

no rythem, flat out. I am white, I can tell ya,, I would have to drink about a 12 pack to get on a dance floor. That way I am drunk enough that when I go dance bad, I don't care what ppl think . Even though I look like a fool out there!

i guess its bc we dont really feel it like the black ppl do. their history (most from Africa) was rooted in music and the beat of drums and dancing, its in their blood. have u also noticed that in a black congregation on a Sunday morning, there is so much more electricity than in a predominately white congregation? its kinda contagious!! most white ppl come from places that arent as into the beat. i hope im not stereotyping, its just what ive found.
ps, i cant shake it, srry

That's quite a generalization. Actually, I have seen many ball room dancers who were white as well as ballet dancers. I guess it depends on the type of dancing you are referring to.

It's because we don't spend a lot of our free time dancing. Why is it that a lot of people don't know how to spell?

We are productive human beings that spend their time doing other things more productive, other than dancing.
