What if your team is winning when you leave and end up losing and you missed it (or other way around)?

Who cares about traffic? If I had a choice I'd stay at the stadium all night.

Boy! I tell you, if I had to drive home from the stadium, I wouldn't care if i got home by 6 a.m. because of traffic, I would just be glad I went to the game. I don't think traffic should be a valid answer, you paid for a ticket to a ballgame, didn't you? Why not use it for all it's worth, see the whole game, buy a cheeseburger or two and not worry about the ride home?

And another thing, if half the people leave early at the same time, then there's still going to be a very large amount of traffic.

Usually These ppl leave becuz they root for the cubs and the cubs almost all ways lose, so when they are winning, ppl leave early to avoiud seeing how they are going to screw it up this time.
and when they are losing, they leave becuz they know that game will end with the cubs still losing.

See?

that explains all you need to know about early walk outs.

Sorry, but beating the traffic (or the subway crowds) is a normal and quite legitimate reason for leaving early. I stay for the whole game myself, no matter how badly my team is faring. You never know.

And that is the other reason: some people leave because their team is losing, often by a large margin, and have given up hope. Fair-weather fans, if you will.

I remember one game in New York in 1964, I believe it was. The Mets were down 16-2 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Sandy Koufax was pitching for the Dodgers. The fans (many had stayed) started chanting "Let's go, Mets!" The batter, Ron Hunt, promptly hit an inside-the-park home run, and the stadium erupted as though the Mets had just won the World Series. Then the chanting resumed as a bemused Koufax got the last batter out. How's that for loyalty?

I think they want to get ahead of the crowd before the game is over.. especially when they have children around.. or avoiding the traffic they would encounter later..and the parking is so crowded everyone has to go on their way..
or if they are catching the train or bus schedules...
that's the reason why we leave stadium early sometimes.. we just hear from others what happened in the game..
it is not only in the stadium.. mostly in entertainment parks like Disney parks before closing time, after the parade is over , everyone rush to get out of the park because of the traffic that lies ahead..

Who cares about traffic???? LOL

It takes many people over an hour as it is to get home from a stadium. Battling the parking lot traffic at the end is a nightmare. Most people do not want to spend 2-3 hours getting home.

They want to beat the traffic I guess. And you are correct. The classic example was in the NFL playoffs when the Buffalo Bills staged the greatest comeback in the history of the playoffs against the Houston Oilers. The stadium half emptied out by the middle third quarter, and then the Bills came back to tie it eventually and won it in OT. People were literally climbing the fences and storming the gates to get back in.

They leave early to get passed the traffic and get out of the parking lot. Not me, I stay later until the game is over and they clear out. I am not going to miss any of the action, especially if it's hockey.

To avoid the traffic leaving.

No one thinks that anyone else will think of leaving the game early to beat traffic, so they do it themselves. Either that or they just get really bored.
