Our government is corrupt enough, social service workers don't get enough money for the amount of tuition that they invest in themselves. It costs around $65K for a degree in social work, and the job only pays $16-17K annually. That means the student repaying the loan is getting screwed, and has to work 2 jobs to repay the student loan, and make ends meet. Just what the government wants! a third world country! Republicans are for the big business, and screw the working people. Our government is trillions of dollars in debt, and doesn't have the resources to give hand outs where it is needed most, at home.

In the book of Luke, Christ told the disciples that if they had 2 cloaks to sell one and buy a sword. He knew that at times it was important for people to defend themselves. Self defense has nothing to do with be a Christian. Yes it is unfair to blame Christians for the any perceived sad state of affairs. If more people practice the teaching of Christ there would be less crime, and less need for hand-outs from the government. Most of our greatest technological and scientific advances have been paid for by the military research, this includes advances in medicine, particularly in the area of the treatment of mass trauma. There is no connection between social spending and a reduction in crime. And for the record, this country spends more on social services than it does on the military. The best defense is having the strongest offensive capabilities. Speak softly and carry a big stick!

There is a dept. of education in the executive branch of our government. Ever hear of the Dept. of Social Service? That is why teachers get the dough and Social workers get to blow.

Because they are therapists not educators in the traditional sense of the word. While mental health counselors may use educational approaches & techniques, their outcomes are meant to be psychotheraputic in nature not necessarily educational per se.
