of course you can! ive done ballet my whole life and most of the time thats the lenght my hair was. there are two differerent ways to do it
1. put your hair in a low ponytail, pin back all the strays with bobby pins. then, take the hair and twist it, wrap it around the ponytail holder, and then use another ponytail holder to hold it in place...wrap it around the bun at least twice. add a scrunchie if you want more holding power.
2. this way holds much better, but takes more time. first youll need an old sock...cut a straight line to cut off the toe area of it. then roll the sock up so it looks like a donut (this is reusable). then, put your hair in a ponytail again and secure it with a ponytail holder. then, put your hair through the sock and hold the sock to your head. after you do that (you may want your moms help for this one) take the hair and from the center out cover the sock with your hair...secure the hair with a ponytail holder. you will have extra hairs hanging around, but you should be able to see the bun now. from here youn can either wrap the hairs around and secure them with a scrunchie or try holding them in with bobby pins.
i hoped this helped, and remember to hairspray it if youre worried about it staying.
good luck in ballet, its my favorite thing to dance!

my hair was is like that i have to have my hair in a bun for every class you need to have your hair in a high ponytail(higher than usual so the top of the bun is level with the top of your head
put 2 clips on each side of your hair so there aren't any whispies 1 clip in front of the ear and 1 in back of the ear then twist your ponytail till it's in a circle use a bobby pin or 2 to keep it in place and then put the hairnet over the bun and take a hairpin and put it through the hairnet so you can still pull the hairpin and place it under your bun and keep doing that all around the bun and to make it even more secure put another hair band over the bun
i know it doesn't make that much sense but u can e-mail me just look at my profile

I know how you feel, I could never get them quite right until very recently. Get some bobby pins, hair ties and hairspray, plus a bun cover if you have one. First gather your hair into a high ponytail, and start twisting it. This is the most important part, just hold on the the ponytail and start rotating until you have the whole thing twisted up. Then wrap it around the base of the ponytail and put bobby pins in to hold it in place. Then put plenty of hairspray on it to keep it in place. If you have a bun cover, put that on too- if not, I would suggest purchasing one, they aren't necessary but very handy in keeping buns in place, and if your bun is far from perfect like mine always are it hides all the messy hairs. xP

Definitely! What you'll need is two hair ties, bobby pins, Hair pins (U shaped ones), hair nets, and LOTS of hairspray.
Put your hair in a pony tail where you want the bun. Make sure you spray all your fly aways so it's neat. Use the bobby pins to pin back bangs or whatever. Then take your pony tail and twist around in a circle, use the U-shaped hair pins to get the bun to stay in a circle. Pin about every inch or so. With the pin you want it to go into your hair perpendicular to your head, weave, and stick it throughso that it's parallel to your head. Then wrap the hairnet around. Spray hair, and if you want use the other hair tie.

Sorry if it doesn't COMPLETELY make sense, feel free to contact me if you have any other Q's.

If you arent good at doing a bun, you should get one of those magic bun things
http://www.scrunchies.com/images/items/043194/043194161621-2.gif
It tells you how to do it and its really easy, you just pull all your hair into it, pull the thing down to the edge of your hair, then start flipping/folding it upwards untill its tight, then hook the two ends of the thing. haha that made no sense but theres instructions.
I had a VERY hard time when I danced because my hair was always VERY short and layered, so I had to use so much hairspray and gel to keep it back and now my hair is all damaged and dry. I just refused to have long hair. hahaha

Absolutely! And sometimes it will hold better if you put it up when your hair is still wet. Don't forget the hair net and hairspray. Both are must haves! Plus hair pins. Don't use regular bobby pins. They don't hold well at all. Use the ones that are "U" or "V" shaped and when you get those, don't use the short ones...use the longer ones. You can get these from any beauty salon store or some dance stores carry them as well. Good luck!

If you can't pull the bun off, you could always try the loaf. I think that meets and/or exceedes ballet regulations.
