No, it was a throw back to the 50's. It was purely coincidental that it came after Grease had already opened on Broadway in 1972. FYI: Laverne and Shirley was a spin off of Happy Days.

Nope! Happy Days came out in the early '70's. Grease came out in the late 70's... and Grease was a Broadway Play before it was a movie!!!

I don't think so, Happy Days came from a short piece that was on a show called Love American Style. They must have gotten a lot of positive feedback, and so decided to make it into a series. Fun show, wasn't it?

I don't think so, considering there isn't really any female characters like Sandy or Rizzo. Joanie really was just a supporting female character.
