The difference between fiction and nonfiction is that nonfiction is is true and fiction is pretend/not true.

Fiction is based on unreal events.... they're made up, basically. Fiction uses the imagination.
Nonfiction is based on real events (reality). Events such as World War II, Vietnam War, and September 11, are real events... Therefore, they are nonfiction.
