For the young folks, "suffrage" means "right to vote."

I don't know why a girl would ask this question... But I'm desperately trying to see it from your side, and I don't know how. I know that women are sometimes not going to vote for the best person, I know I don't, because they think oh, that guys cute or whatever, but I also feel that someday a woman will be in high office around here, and that would be a huge step for the country, even though she'd probably be assassinated like all the rest of the good ones. I just don't understand why you would revoke their right to vote... It would be like revoking the African American's right to vote and only counting them as 1/4 of a person again. It would be such an unprogressive decision that I don't think America would stand for it even if people were to act on it....
This is a VERY good question!!!!

I love how everyone presumes that you personally agree with the sentence. The mind works in strange ways...

I personally think that everyone over 18 should be able to vote - that include criminals and other potentially disenfranchised people. I'm not sure that democracy truly is the best system - a little time on Y!A can get you wondering - but I'm not aware of a better system.

Actually, I'm inclined to wonder if the world wouldn't be better if male suffrage were revoked!

I'm curious, did you just want to get some dialog going, or are you asking a serious question? Why would you make such an inflammatory statement? When I think of how hard a small, forward group of women worked to gain for us, as women (what should have belonged to us in the first place)...I can't imagine any female questioning it...but it's your right...and you have the right because of the efforts of these same type of people...men and women of vision and courage to stand up for what they believe in. Are you sure you don't have it confused with women's lib?

What the **** are you talking about? As a Woman, you should be ashamed to even go there, sister! Womens Suffrage was probabally the best thing to happen to our country since the end of Slavery. You should really listen to yourself when you say stupid **** like that. It makes you sound like a complete Moron!

Fanny Wright and Susan B. Anthony fought hard to get women the right to vote and a lot of women don't even exercise their right then on top of that you ask a question like this maybe you are right some people shouldn't be allowed to vote because they are stupid.

Uhh.. Are you nuts? You are a woman and you don't believe you should have the right to vote? I am ashamed of you? You are trying to undo what women over the centuries worked so hard for? Well, good for you then. You can stand all by youself inyour own little corner with that attitude. I'm sure noone wants to join you. We women are proud of the voices and brains God gave us and by God we are going to use them!

Are you suggesting that women should no longer have the right to vote? You don't get my vote on this one....women fought hard for this right...and you should appreciate it.

Are you on crack? Repeal women's right to vote? Do you want to go back to the 19th Century?
