Accually tthe first "American" built V8 engine was built by a man by the name of Howard Marmon as of 1906. It was an air cooled motor, but very limited information is avaliable. But the one that got the most attention was the one made by Cadillac in 1915. This motor was somewhat based on the one from The French company DeDion of 1910.

The first mass produced USA built V8 was the FORD flathead V8. It was produced from 1932 until the early 1950's
