Your question needs more clarification, like what operating system you are using? are you even using a computer or a stand alone dvr? what kind of file is your 900mb file? avi, mpeg, etc.? Let's assume the norm, that the 900mb file is in .avi format and you are running windows XP on your computer. The file can be either split into 2 450mb files to fit into 2 cd-r discs (@700mb capacity each) using commercial software like Nero's Burning Rom or Roxio's Easy CD and DVD Creator to "encode" the .avi file into VCD format to playback on any DVD player, or you can "compress" the .avi file when "encoding" it to VCD format using, again, commercial software like AVI to VCD or WinAVI Video Converter. The "compression" and "encoding" is done for you by the software and you'll be able to "fit" a "compressed" 900mb .avi file into 1 cd-r (@700mb capacity) The downside to the latter scenario is that you loose some quality on the video playback.

i always do this.if u dont mind.just resize it.maybe u can edit the video n cut out some scene untill it will be 700 mb.

or in other hand.u can resize it without cutting out any scene.but the quality will be poor a little bit.u can change its format.
try use this software.(sony vegas)this sofware for u to edit or resize ur movie.so that the movie can be 700mb.fit to a cd.try for it..it is really usefull n too easy when u use this sony vegas..

If you don't mind a slight loss of detail (most any 900mb file has way more detail than would show up on a TV anyways), you can set your burner to adjust the final file size to 700mb to fit the disc.
