I've been reading "Burning Down the House: Essays on the Craft of Fiction" by Charles Baxter. It's really good if you're a writer and want some of the good confusion that leads to creativity.

Other books I've loved lately:

The Rabbi's Cat by Joann Sfar

The Mysteries by Lisa Tuttle

Touch by Gayleen Froese

i also like Jodi Piccoult.

Try reading Marian Keyes (much more lighthearted-you'll even chuckle) Her best are Watermelon, Rachels Holiday, Last Chance Saloon.

Also very good: One Thousand White Women, The Other Boleyn Girl, Glass Castle, and while it might be a few years old The Pilots Wife.

it is summer time and college is out so I have read dozens. I am currntly reading a series by David B. Coe at home and a series by David drake at work. They are both really good. Children of the Amiaid (coe) is certainly going to be an interesting read. I also read the wheel of time series up till now (again!!!) and the game of thrones series by George R.R. Martin (again!) There are so many books and only three short months!

I just read "Princess: A True Story of Life Behind the Veil in Saudi Arabia" by Jean Sasson. I am now reading "My Forbidden Face: Growing Up Under the Taliban - A Young Woman's Story" by Latifa (pseudonym). Both are enlightening and sad and gripping - in that they both gripped my soul.
