Amendments to the constitution explicitly outlawing gay marriage and abortion in my opinion take away freedom. Not to mention the growing number of mobile phone companies bending over for the government to stick it to them and their customers.

Sorry to disagree with matt above me here but the Constitution does not "give" us anything. The founding fathers believed that all men are born with certain unalienable rights, but if you are born or become a U.S.A. citizen then these rights cannot be taken away from you without due process. Now to the question at hand. Yes we now live in a time were the GOP are taking away rights without due process Example: Patriot Act, Freedom of Information Act... What can we do? I don't have that answer, if I did I would run for office myself.

if you're referring to america, that's a good question. Freedom Of Everything practically being taken away and our rights as americans are being dragged in the dirt. in schools, freedom of religion has been taken away. and in Texas somewhere people under 16 have a curfew. they aren't allowd on the streets at 10:00 pm. thats sad. even though it saves gang victims and gang members from crime. but still . . .

The situation we are in, and have been in for several generations, is one in which intelligent, representative government is increasingly impossible, simply because of the sheer size and scope of government. If we want a government that is controlled by our representatives, we need a government that is sufficiently limited in size and scope for it to be humanly possible for our representatives to know and understand what it is doing and what is being suggested that it do. For the people's representatives to regain control of the government, its size and scope must be radically reduced.
