Who cares, if you are a decent law abiding citizen, what does it matter if anybody is listening.

There's no tell-tale signs anymore really. The old "clicking" sound so many will mention no longer applies. Digital telephony, and fiber optics make it much easier to tap a line without any telltales. Voltage detectors only work on wire systems before they go into the street's phone hub.. (a little post, usually near the street's transformer) It's PARTLY mass paranoia. If there's reason for attention to someone, they'll be able to single the person out, but for the most part it'll work on a "keyword" flagging system. With millions of calls, the statistical chances of hitting those words, means hundreds of thousand computer tags. t'd be impossible to monitor them all. I would'nt worry about it. Who cares what someone does in private....

Next time you look out the window, look down the street and see if you can see that black van with dark tinted windows and a couple of antennae on it facing your house, then you'll know and every once in a while, a black helicopter will fly above your neighborhood and buzz your area for awhile.

It would definitely be concerning if it was proven to be happening somewhere...where I live we have the "Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy act", which is so strict, that if anyone was doing this, there would be serious repercussions.

I see people saying `doesn`t matter...I am law abiding` Well...do they mind putting a camera or microphone in their bedroom, bathroom, living room? Same difference. A private conversation should be just that...PRIVATE!

Unless you are really talking about secretive plans or something like it then you have nothing to worry about. They probably just want free phone sex any way.

I'm pretty sure my girlfriend has my cell phone tapped but it doesn't really bother me because I don't have anything to hide.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't watching you.
