No, not enough money. You would have to be the real hardy sort, it's freakin' cold there but it would be no survivor game...you may not come home dirty with 115K. It's not really cool to be American and over there especially working for profit...you will be a target. What kind of ransom money will the company pay for you? Is your head worth 115K to your company? What is the food provided...camel or goat? Those are valid questions and 115K isn't that much money. Be real sure it's what you really want.

First of all, isn't it great to live in a place where you can actually choose to go to a war-torn country ... or not. Many people in the world have no choice about it and must find a way to live their day to day lives amid the hatred and the chaos that war brings to their country.
For that very reason, I believe I would go. A year or two at least. A person would come home with a much-changed perspective on the world. And a lot more gratitude in their heart.
And maybe there would be a chance to bring some help and comfort to those who live their lives in upheaval.

I would. I am a truck driver and know a few people that did go over there to drive trucks. I would see that job as a adventure and you couldn't say that it was boring. You would get a chance to visit another country something that not alot of people do, unless you are in the military. I wish I could have done that, one year is such a short time and think of the memories. That is priceless.

Hell, I have been to Iraq twice, as a contractor, and each trip was for a year each. I did make more than $115K in a year, but I would take the pay cut.

If you have a wife and kids I say no. If you are single then maybe. Ask yourself if you are ready to die ~ I'm serious. Al-Queda is very much alive and well in Afghanistan and wants to kill Americans. I think it is TOO dangerous personally. Why do you think they are offering 115K - will you be around to spend it?

I would not because I have a family. The money is so high because the risk of death or injury is even higher than day-to-day life.
Were I a young man, with no wife and kids, then it would be worth it just for the adventure. Heck, that's better money than the military and someone is still paying you to see the world with no expenses. Work one year, bank the money and setup your own business. Or take a trip.

Yes, I would. You don't bomb a nation back to the stone age then let them pick up the pieces. The US helped make japan the powerhouse that it is after wwII buy helping to rebuild their infustructor. I don't know if we could do it with afghanistan but we can sure improve there station a little bit. It doesnt have to be western but modern muslim would be good. I think if I could be of some positive then most def. yes.

Maybe. I would like to see Afghanistan for myself rather than through the tv. It's supposed to be beautiful in the spring. It's is dangerous yes, but I'm not sure I would pass up the opportunity to go. The money doesn't matter tho.

I'm in Iraq right now for almost twice that. But, to really answer the question, it would depend on my financial situation. I got laid off and couldn't find another job back home, so I took one overseas. If I had a job already, though, I wouldn't leave it to come over here.

Add in body armor, helmet, a 45 Auto pistol and a M-14 rifle at no extra charge...did interview with a major consulting firm who did lose a staffer in 2005 on assignment in Baghdad; they never hired me as is but, I would have asked for a sidearm as basic protection.
