Torrents AHHH YES.... I love em. They are the next generation of file shareing. The old way was, you'd connect to someone elses computer, (you and about 30 billion other people) and then it becomes so, so, SO SLOW. What a torrent is, more-or-less, a direct location to a file, like a short cut, HOWEVER... A torrent can be downloaded, and moved around, whereas, other file shareing programs, you are locked into useing that program PERIOD! For an example, so you have a slow connection and your downloading something.... and its takeing forever, well you can take your torrent files, (and they are so small you can get like 30 on to a floppy!!) to your friends house, who has a supper fast high speed connection, and a dvd burner, so you can just burn your fliles after you've down loaded them... in short, they allow you to move your downloads when you are useing a file shareing software...the best program, is bit torrent... if you have a highspeed connection, and need a program or two, check it out, and then go to the site www.isohunt.com, and look for your title, and then down load the torrent file, and then open it with bit torrent... you'll enjoy it!

Torrents are files with information on where to download files on the Internet. Usually movie, music, TV shows, etc. Be warned that downloading copyrighted material is against the law. A program like Bit Torrent is able to read the torrent file, and use the information to find computers on the Internet that have that file available, and download it to your computer. As you are downloading the file, you also make it available to others who want the file. By having dozens of computers all offering the file in small bits, large files like movies can be downloaded much quicker that with other file sharing programs.

To use torrents, you will need to download a torrent reading program (such as BitTorrent). Then go to sites offering the torrent files (such as torrentspy.com) and get the torrent for whatever you want to download. Doubleclick the torrent file, and BitTorrent does the rest.

Remember that downloading copyrighted material is illegal. (And many of the torrents offered are for copyrighted material, so be careful what you try to download)
