No, CEO's do not do 300 times the work--they deligate! This means that they hire the best people they can trust to do the work that the company has for them to do.
The CEO is not 300 times better than the average employee! All souls are created equal in the eyes of God.
Chief Executive Officers and CO's (Company Owners) may head up a company or own a company, but that does not make them better than any of the employees.
When I was a secretary, I had some very good bosses, and I saw the worst, as well. Some millionaires are jerks, and other are great people who anyone would want to work for. Most CEO's and CO's do not make $9,000,000.00 a year and the average worker does not make $30,000.00 per year. Bill Gates is worth BILLIONS of dollars, but I bet he didn't start out with making that much!!!

No, but the CEO has more than 300 times the responsibility. See what happened at Enron? No line worker could have killed the company, but the well paid top excecs wiped out billions of dollars in wealth. However, a more accurate question would be if CEO's are worth what they are paid. In other countires around the world, CEO's are not paid nearly the rate that they are in the US, but do comparative work. Even from a historical perspective in the US, CEO's have never been paid as much.

*#$&(#$($^#$^#*($ NO! The average CEO's salary is some incredible percentage more than that of the average employee. Companies excuse that kind of nonsense by saying they have to pay these enormous salaries or they "won't be able to attract the best talent". That's why they penny pinch on everyone further down the ladder.....

Actually, the true figure is closer to 400 times. CEOs are getting ripped off if they only make 300 times.
