Yogurt is alkaline, i.e. more acidic than other products. It's acidic properties enter the bladder in order to be expelled. The 'acid' in the food kills some of the bacteria in the bladder and keeps it under control. As a nurse I would recommend Cranberry juice aswell. Hope this has helped. Good luck!

most clinical studies ive seen have shown that acidopholis and yogurt arent effective because in a normal person most bacteria are quickly killed in the stomach, but for people who beleive it works, supposedly the "good" bacteria is suppose to help replace the "bad" bacteria which (in theory) limits growth of the bad bacteria

i can maybe see the logic for an intestinal problem, but to think the bacteria from yougurt or acidopholus will survive in your stomach, then get into your blood (if you have bacteria in your blood usually youre in big trouble) and make its way to your vagina is just plain crazy and ignorant. i

vaginal acidopholus suppositories are suppose to be effective though. but oral stuff probably doesnt work.

The cultures in LIVE yogurt kill off certain fungal infections. Has to be specifically live, plain though. You can also spread it on the affected area for physical relief of symptoms.
