You have a boot floppy? If so put it in the floppy drive and reboot...you may have to change the boot order in your bios to boot from floppy, set second boot as cdrom....when it boots to the floppy type fdisk. Dump the partition and then reboot with the floppy removed and the me cd in.

Classic FFR...

Fdisk
Format
Reinstall

While XP has more functionality in this department, ME has a nice variation... The following is to completely wipe the drive back to absolute ground zero. You *can* skip the first two steps, but a fresh partitioning will help reassert the drive's integrity. Make sure to create an ME boot disk before starting this.

1 ) Boot up in DOS mode and run Fdisk. Delete the existing partition(s) on the drive, then reboot again (to clear the partitioning from memory).

2 ) Boot up in DOS mode again (using the boot disk you created) and run Fdisk once more to create new partitions on the drive. Myself, I recommend at least two partitions, one of which is exclusively for the operating system (approximately 25% of your drive, up to 8 GB). Also protects the swap file and keeps it in the fastest area of your drive. However many partitions you go with (even if only one), make sure the first partition is flagged as the active one.

3 ) Reboot again using the boot disk and format the partition(s) using:

format C: /u

(repeat for each partition with the appropriate drive letter)

4 ) Boot from the ME install disk and run a fresh install.

I would recommend you boot from a Windows 98 floppy disk and click "Start Computer with CD-ROM support." Then you can type "Format C:" (assuming C is your main drive) and then you can run the installation CD for the operating system.

One last bit of advice: Windows ME is a worthless piece of crap. Get Windows XP.
