Do you think that most soccer fans remember where the World Cup was held eight years after the World Cup was held. For example, France held the World Cup in 1998 but do most soccer fans remember that France held the World Cup eight years ago?

i guess this all depends if you are interested in the topic or not. most of the time, before a wc starts, they bring the highlights of the last years, so i remember the hosts and the winners from 1970 (for the world cups before i would have to look it up, but you asked for memory not capability of googleing, lol):

1970 mexico, brazil won
1974 germany, germany won
1978 argentina, argentina won
1982 spain, italy won
1986 mexico, argentina won
1990 italy, germany won
1994 usa, brazil won
1998 france, france won
2002 south corea/japan, brazil won
2006 germany, hopefully italy will win
2010 south africa

looking forward to a possible wc in downunder 2018 :)

The only way I remember France held the 1998 World Cup is that I remember France won that tournament.

In 2002, it was Japan and Korea I think. I don't really remember as I never watched any of the games I wanted to watch live because of the time difference.

If Germany was to win this year's tournament, because they're the host nation, I will probably remember in 8 years.

Yes I remember. This is to Kessia 98, the world Cup 1994 was hosted by the U.S.A, many were surprised by FIFA`s decision in 1988 to hold it there considering the lack of FOOTBALL fan`s, but it turned out OK their were high number`s at most game`s the final was between Brazil & Italy which was won by Brazil 3 - 2 after a penalty shootout after neither team scored during game or extra time.

As opposed to the host country that doesn;t "host" it? I think over half of soccer fans can reel off the host nations from 1930 and who won each World Cup. I know most of my friends can.

Absolutely! Die hard soccer fans know everything from who hosted the world cup to which teams made it to the quarterfinals.

I think most people remember the winner not the location. I know the Champs for the last few but not the host

Fans would remember that the WC was play in their home country, specially if they won the cup.
