I think it is real, and I have gotten rid of my gas-guzzling SUV and have started driving a hybrid. I think a lot of Americans don't want to face the truth because they are afraid of changing their bad habits. I suppose they think that some scientist is going to come along and fix all of their problems, but it's really up to us to make a difference. Go and visit this link for more facts concerning this global epidemic:

It is quite fascinating, and might get people interested in making a difference.

Global warming is a symptom of a world gone insane. As individuals, we can't do anything (much) about the world's climate, but we can choose not to act like insane consumers, and set examples for the rest. Unfortunately, the stories in the news don't put the blame on individual actions. All Big Stories become Global or National problems which require Big Government or Big Media to Talk Big about them. The real people who are doing something are the ones living frugally, forming small communities and energy saving or time returning projects for each other, investing money in local businesses and minimizing the junk in life.

I think global warming is quite possible. HOWEVER, the exact reasons why are not as clear as the media makes them out to be. I think there is too much media hype because it sells advertising. Its very scary to average people, especially with the recent movies pushing the extreme possibilities. I don't think a lack of SUV's was the result of the Ice Age was it? Global temperature fluctuations do occur, its part of nature. How many reliable measures of long-term historical global temperatures are there? Even scientific methods using glaciers or other 'fixed' phenomenon may not be as accurate as we believe. Remember at one time 'science' believed the Sun revolved around the Earth and that the Earth was flat.
At the same time, mankind needs to be more considerate. We consume natural resources like they are simply ours to use as we desire. Its very possible that the next Ice Age could be our fault and not a meteor or volcanic eruption or other natural event. I drive a large vehicle, but have a large family (yep, I contributed to global over-population I guess). At the same time, our household does try to conserve. Fewer car trips, less garbage, etc. May not sound like a lot but if everybody did a little that would go along way. Not to mention it saves you money!
I want my children to have a future with as much, if not more, potential than I had. I don't want them to live in protective UV shielding bubbles on a barren planet.

Like in a cause and affect chart, global warming is the cause, and the affect of global warming is the melting of the polar ice caps causing a very quick change in temp. of the oceans, which in turn causes instability of the earth's ecosystems.

I think it's scary that eventually this earth will be uninhabitable for us humans because it will be covered in water...there was a discovery channel show that explained how the future supposedly would be on earth. There were no humans...just highly evolved sea animals.
we had supposedly all left the planet because of global warming and the lack of resources to live off of.

I think people are getting too bored, and are finding problems for us to worry about. I personally would not put any effort into doing anything extra to "prevent" global warming...

I'm not sure global warming is occurring, but politicians like Al Gore are keeping their names in the news by promoting it. To save energy and decrease my CO two production, I recycle, use my car sparingly, dry clothes outside, save rainwater for watering, turn up my thermostat in the summer and down in the winter, and turn of my TV when opportunists like Al Gore are on.

The Earth goes through cycles of warming and cooling. The whole idea of global warming is a myth but thanks to Al Gore and other defenders of this idea the whole thing has been blown out of porpotion.

well because of it, greenland's glaziers are melting really fast . faster than ever, so the oceans will rise 20 ft and we will have more hurricanes along the shores so people will run away from the water to the middle of the land BUT...there will be drought there , no water, just the hot sun blaring at us and we will painfully die either of thirst or we will drown.
so theres global warming for you...
o and i forgot. if we dont die of that, dont worry the hole in the ozone layer will be big enough soon so we'll SURE die of skin cancer...
SEE YOU IN HELL GUYS.

It's a real problem and people need to wake up and smell the pollution. I don't get how people can ignore the science and the facts and look at the bizarre weather patterns from the last few years and think nothing is wrong. I hope they have money to move their grand kids to mars!
