Yeah, it has alot to do with something being only partly there...it stands for Time And Relative Dimension In Space, the reality of the call box form only partly exists in whatever dimension it is "parked" in...it carries thru into other dimensions to expand the inside, while remaining constant in time...sound plausible?

Time and Relative Dimensions In Space. In other words, the outside is further away than the inside.

Or something like that. I'm no expert in temporal dynamics, but I think that the inside is in a different dimension from the outside.
