Im 15, and my last period was in April. Im not sexually active, but I havent had a period in two months. Is this normal? In May, I had a spot, then nothing. This month I had a spot, and nothing still. A friend told me hers might be missing for 3 months and it comes back on, and she isnt sexually active. Another told me I may need to get on birth control. I asked my mom and she said birth control is for people who are having sex and a missing period wouldnt need birth control. I havent been to the OB/GYN and maybe that is what I need to do. Im very confused, and I want to come to my mom the right way about this without her thinking im active.

Extreme dieting and stress can cause this and if you started your period less than a year ago it also happens. Go to a clinic to assure yourself that all is ok. You don't need your mom's permission to do this. Don't lissen to answers like the one carlo p gave and any like that. Be carefull of some of the answers you might get for this type of question.

You need to tell you mother to take you to the Dr. At 15 this isn't normal unless you're on the Depo shot. At least you are smart enough to know that you have a problem. If your mom doesn't listen to your problem talk to your DAD.

I have a 15 yr old and she's been visiting the Dr. now for a year. She's not active sexually but she's on the DEPO shot just the same.

I took the responsibility of the birth control from my daughter so that I would know for sure that if there every was a slip up there would be no pregnancies...

SEE your DR. A>S>A>P

make an appointment with your regular doctor/ pediatrician. since you are young, it is most likely your body getting used to the changing hormones, etc. it takes until you are about 18 years + for your cycle to actually become regulated and normal, so something like this is most liekly nothing to worry about at all. but just to be sure, you can make an appointment with your regular doctor (you don't need to see an OB GYN right away since you are not sexually active and you are young...you should start seeing an OBGYN as soon as you are sexually active or when you are 18). anyway, seeing your regular doctor will be a way not to alarm your mom, and your regular doctor will definitly be able to help you. And if she thinks you should go on the pill to get regulated, she can put you on it...and maybe talk to your mom about the situation if your mom is worried.

hope this helps, good luck.

You need to check with a doctor - if not OBGYN, your doctor will be okay too.
You're 15 then your period might not be regular yet. So missing a period or two might be possible. Especially when you just have your period for a year or so.

My friend told me birth control helps her period become regular - she's been irregular for years and everytime the period comes it hurts like hell. So she asked her doctor and her doctor subscribe a type of birth control.

So talk to your doctor, such as what options you have.

I hate to say your mom is wrong.....but your mom is wrong. I experienced this problem starting at the age of 13 and had to be put on birth control to help fix the problem. I never had sex either, so the problem could be in your ovaries. You need to tell your mom that their are other people in the world that need to take birth control without being sexually active. Then make an appointment to see your GYN so that they fix this problem before it gets worse......like enlarged ovarian cysts that turn into tumors. I hate to scare you, but your mom also needs a wake up call before her daughter gets ill.

When you are that age, your period won't be regular. It takes some time. I was totally irregular until I was 16 then I just got on birth control. It is not only for people who are sexually active. I got on it because of my irregular periods. I have had friends get on it because of the cramps they had from their period. Do some research...the pill would help you even if youre a virgin.

Birth control is used for many things especially regulating periods. Your body is not fully matured yet so you dont regularly ovulate yet. Go ask your doctor, ob/gyn is not necessary until you are 18 or sexually active

if you jst started your period then this is normal in some cases a lot of people after seeing their period for the first time dont see it regularly for a while but it will be best to see an oby/gyn and get a medical view bt as long as you arent sexual active then they isnt anything to worry about

sometimes this is from stress or diet, I was EXTREMELY irregular until like I was in my mid 30's..
going on birth control will make you regular while you are on it, but I can understand a moms concerns too.. and although you are not active now.. things happen and I am sure you would rather be on birth control than pregnant.. so I would suggest birth control but continue not being sexually active untill you are older and with somebody permanent becuase sex REALLY does change things and birthcontrol doesnt protect against disease...
