I was just curious what the average pay per hour is for people in any profession? I am currently a cashier making $7.00 an hour. I did try out for doctor's professions and have had alot of interviews and when I told them I would like to make $8 - $10 an hour they just kind of looked at me funny and didn't hire me. When I used to work for them I got anywhere from $8 - $9.50 an hour. Has pay gone done the past few years?

it all depends on the geographic location. If you are in the city, your paid will tend to get higher. But the cost of living is also little higher, same as taxes. It is hard to tell whether your pay is fair.

However, 10 an hour is really like minimum for many states. (based on the cost of living)... Pay has not gone down, but inflation goes up. Companies lay off high pay workers, and re hire with lower pay.

Many managers or profession workers lost their jobs, and if they get the job back, pay will be lower...

I don't work, but my girlfriend (that lives with me) makes $7.25 an hr as a cage cashier in a casino, plus tips. The tips add at least an extra $200 minimum per week to what she makes. She makes at least $1,700+ a month with tips.

We live in Bakersfield, CA.

Tell them your pay is negotiable. See what their offers are. They don't want to hire someone who is money hungry. You can turn down lower paying jobs. I work in IL/WI area and typical pay starting is 8-10 for basic jobs
