Digital camera would be the best thing. You can find a really good one at your nearest computer store like Best Buy or CompUSA...even get them online at http://www.amazon.com
When you take pictures, you can just download them to your hard drive and you can do whatever you want to them thereafter.
Other options include scanning them on a scanner which you can also purchase pretty cheap nowadays. You just scan your physical pictures, then upload them to your computer.
You can even just take your pictures to KINKO or a photo store and they can take your pictures and scan them for you. They would put the pictures on a disk or in a data CD which you can basically move into your computer.
There are several ways =)

Like he said...a scanner....I wouldnt buy a multifunction printer with a scanner tho for two reasons. 1. for photos and other non bendables a flatbed scanner is the way to got. 2. multifunction units are prone to breakdown and then you have a piece of crap that only half works. The above will allow you to scan any image be it a photo, magazine article, etc....To capture your image the cheapest way to go is with a webcam. Logitech makes the best....you also have the option of buying a digital camera but you talkin big duckets for it.

Yeah. You would need a scanner. Then you would probably have a little booklet that comes with it and there are direnctioons of how to use it.
