OK so I had this long interview the other day.. I had 3 seperate interviews .. 4 people in all. They were the following:

1 - Associate Manager, Content Operations
2 - Associate Manager, Category Operations
3 - Associate Manager, Data Structure Operations

They didn't really explain who they were.. Are they all managers of different sections and why are all of them interviewing me?

Then today I got a call back and they wanted to make a PHONE interview with a new guy (the others were in person) and this guys title is Sr. Data Operations Specialist .. And he is younger than any of the other ones I met with.. I even saw his MySpace and he is really young and basically a partying college student! So he would be under the other people who interviewed me correct?

SO who is the one actually in charge of hiring me!!

This all has me very confused.. what does it mean if after you interview with one person - they want you to have an additional one with someone under them??

So in the interview should I lean more towards professional or friendly?

Well, sometimes employers or the Bosses will interview you first, if you pass them, you will have the co-workers and see how you get along with co-workers.

Bosses only make decision on qualification and personal preference, but sometimes, if you have 2 candidates with similar background, they will leave that up to the co-workers. Not surprised, the finally decision will be based on the co-workers!!

The guy is a senior level, but the first three are already at managerial levels - they out-rank him... and his myspace page was a dead giveaway!

They may want to see how you'll gel with other people from other departments. People you may be in contact with all day long.

Were any of these titles similar to the job you applied to? There's the one that'll hire you.

Four interviews isn't bad. I went through that process. It's usually just scheduling on both sides. And, they're also seeing other people for the same position.

The more faces you meet with, the better your chances, though. Makes them get familiar with you. That's how I feel about it.

Good luck!

Common to have supervisors in different departments interview a prospective employee. This is a smart way to go about hiring someone. If you have only the operations manager and the human resources manager interviewing you, chances are, those people will never see you in action.

the party guy is the tech guy . be tech savy and he will sign off on you. The managers will go along as they dont undersatand te technology.

sounds like a good job ... Lots of people doing nothing. It must be a big company.

they probably want to arrange a peer interview - the last guy is probably a potential co-worker at the same level so they want to see if you two will gel.

Depends on who is in charge of hiring for your department.
