Ipod... it's amazing. I still have like the first model that ever came out too. Back in the day when I had it I had soooo many people coming up to me and saying "oooo whatchya got there? an ipod? what the heck is that?"...and now look, its crazy. everyone and there mom has one, and for a damn good reason. You can put so much on there. I have close to 7g songs on there and a few movies/movie clips and it's only half full. Great invention. Best investment you will ever make.

It all depends on what you are looking for in it.

I mean, I got an MP3 Player - Creative Zen Touch 20 GB. It's way cheaper than even an iPod Nano, which is what? 6 GB maybe? Yes, I had won the side of cost on this, but the Creative was only black-and-white, while the Nano is in color. Didn't really bother me. Now, due to the 20 GB size I could hold 10,000 songs! & I love my music so i needed all that space! The Nano can only hold up to what? 1,500 song?
For me, at the time of purchase, the off the bat things that the Nano had to offer me were struck out by the Zen Touch and at a cheaper price.
Now, though, after having it for awhile, I've noticed that the Zen Touch doesn't have the flexibilty that a Nano would've had. The iPod has stacks & stacks of different extras for it to help in anyway, yet, the Zen Touch only had a select few extras. Which to me, would help out in the long run.

In other words,
If you want the quick & affordable gain don't go for an iPod, go for any standard MP3 Player.
If you want the suck-it-up-at-first gain then go for the iPod and not a regular MP3 Player.
It all has to do with preference.

Good luck on making your choose.

Mp3 player - It's a Creative Zen Micro...Mp3 players and iPods have such a difference in price because the iPod has a screen for watching TV and music videos, while the Mp3 player doesn't. The difference in price doesn't support the extras you get with an iPod. I'd suggest you getting a Creative Mp3 player.

iPod 60GB, 5G.

The thing is, if you are thinking of buying one, and if you ever have a problem with it, there are more people here at Yahoo! Answers who own and have probably had simular experiences. So you will get more and better answers compaired to another MP3 player that is on the market. So go, iPod!

wow, i'm impressed with the group! The ipod, while an attractive little device, is really just an overpriced, overhyped, trendy, poorly made piece of electronics with RESTRICTIVE software. It can be modded in quite fun ways if you're adventurous (voids warranty), but it's really not worth the time.
-ipod's reliability is poor, read up on it
-battery not replaceable (wtf???)
-not easily used as mass storage device
-use 2 cables to listen to it on a work pc. power and audio out. Other players can just plug into USB port and charge while playing to your pc's speakers/media player.
-i don't like it cuz it feels like driving a Volkswagen and wearing a white belt. can you say lemming?

MP3 - Creative 8 GB Zen Micro Photo, and it awesome. actually better than and iPod cause it does more stuff, but the downfall is it cost $299, but its worth it. i didn't want to follow the crowd and get an iPod, it's just the name your paying for.

MP3 player. iPod is proprietary, that's a bad thing.
Also, the choices among mp3 players is huge.
