I live in Kansas and have been thru 6 really bad ones, and many warnings that were uneventful when it comes to the funnels themselves...The sky turns dark..hail occurs and heavy rains then a sudden calm happens just before the funnel touches down to the ground..It does sound loud like a freight train but I just say its a tornado sound now..Debris flies thru the air as well..Once saw a cow lifted and thrown onto a farm building roof..amazing but scary! Not something I like to live thru but have...

Yes. It was on a soccer field near some woods at a park. It was only a few yards wide, probably not even a category one, but it was dark. A dark silver or deep purple, almost black. It was probably 200 yards away. This was like over 10 years ago. I saw it, gazed for a few moments, and began leaving the area. A car approached and some people asked me if I saw the twister and where it was. I said I did, pointed, and continued the way home.

I have.
Its like nothing you can imagine.
The wind makes so much noise you can not hear anything.
Things are flying all over and flying apart.
There is lots of rain and large hail.
The only thing you feel is awe and fear. And mostly fear.
I cant really tell you in words what its like, Its something that if you live through you never ever forget.
