Feeling free to express their emotions may have a great deal to do with what you have observed (as Western women are taught to be expressive, and Western men to be repressive)...
but perhaps you are also noticing the "private smiles" of solitary women in particular, because that is who you are looking at, who you are attracted to, who you want to make eye contact with.
Sometimes, we see what we want to see.
As for me, when I'm smiling at nobody in particular, there may be several reasons:
1) because I am genuinely enjoying re-living a memory
2) because I am going toward a person or an experience that I long for
3) because I am trying to mask my insecurities with a look of joy and confidence so others won't see my vulknerabilties and try to exploit them
4) because life just seems so absurd, all of a sudden, and being a woman, I know I have many years to live through the absurdity
5) because, being a woman, I feel very close to life and birth, and walking outside, seeing trees growing, families playing, birds flying overhead, I feel so connected to it all, and I lose any fear I have of death, because I know it is a part of life, and that one day I too will pass from maidenhood to motherhood to cronehood.
6) because I have escaped an oppressive situtation that may or may not have had anything to do with my gender, and my sense of relief is practically contagious

I smile when I am on my own for many different reasons! Maybe, if I am in my car, I have a really great CD playing, one that I love, like maybe something by Kelis or Xzibit. If I am walking along the High Street looking in the shop windows and smiling, then I may be daydreaming about my guy's reaction to an outfit I am considering buying or remembering something we couldn't stop laughing about or the amazing sex we had that morning!!

a million. women persons ascertain all men want them and a grin will merely grant encouragement, so that they preserve the Permascowl. 2. women persons are advised they could have all of it by utilizing the politicians and the media. even as actuality storms in, resentment is all yet engraved in stone. 3. human beings in many circumstances ascertain friendliness is for chumps. This ain't Mayberry anymore. you could attempt giving them some ideas-set adjustment, yet between the "Why could I smile? GDMFing menz save hitting on me!" feminists right here blocked me your time back, so %. your battles wisely.
