I know there are alot. I am not one. I know what you mean. If people want to make a living gettig peoples crap just to sell it on Ebay they should take a look at their own crap they may have laying around their house. I think it is gross.

Because most people in this country can't afford EVERYTHING they want BRAND NEW. What you might consider garbage, other people might be able to restore & squeek a couple of more years of use out of it for a fraction of the cost of buying something new.
Other people make money off your throw-aways. Have you seen Ebay?
One man's trash is another man's treasure...at least it's not going into a landfill!!!
As for the people who can't throw stuff away, my best guess is that these folks are sentimental at heart. If they look at, or even think about something they know they have stored away & could physically touch, a reward of vivid fond memories of the past will flood the mind & rejouvinate the soul.
The dark part of this "affliction" is that it can get way out of control. Alot of times, garbage is just garbage -It should be thrown away & forgotten.

well if it is still functional-then why wish for it to go to a landfill. Without knowing where the guy was taking it-for all you know he needed a lamp in a dark room. OR, perhaps they were psycho ebay-ers, who will ebay anything they get for free b/c even 50 cents on a free lamp on the curb is better than nothing. I know the type.
Oh hell, I am the type.
But I am also a packrat as well...
Well, All I can say is the old adage, one mans junk is another mans treasure. Just be happy you are rid of it and you don't have to pay for its removal!

I am a pack rat--- I just always think that I might need that someday! Also I like finding new uses for things-- I guess it is recycling.
