Best career path to choose is one that you will love.... that is if you don't need to base it soley on money. Sometimes a job that we love doesn't pay well, but is more rewarding. A job that pays well gets the bills and other desires taken care of, but may not be all that great and you could get burned out. If you want to be a veternarian-- you are going to have to make a sacrafice somewhere. If you don't like the small animals, then sacrafice the long hours and study to be a vet of the larger ones. At least you will have a career you love.
Never continue in a job you don't enjoy. If you're happy in what you're doing, you'll like yourself, you'll have inner peace. And if you have that, along with physical health, you will have had more success than you could possibly have imagined.

What about opening your own business maybe something like a pet shop or groomers. Since you love animals you would be able to work with them. You are good in math so you would be able to keep up with the bookwork that goes along with your own business. And since it is your own business you set the hours. Also the big paycheck, it would take an intially investment on your part and a lot of hard work but it would pay off in the long run just stick with it, There is an 18 year old girl in town that did this exact thing and i use her to get my dog groomed, and as far as i know she is doing really well for herself

Large animal doctors are in high demand in nearly any state you decide to work in and you can make your own hours. You call the shots when you are a doctor, don't think for a minute that because you are the doc, that you have to be at anyone's beck-on call! :)
They need YOU... and the pay is excellent. I'm not saying to be snotty about it, I'm just saying that there is definately flexibility in being a large animal vet.
You can also be an 'on call' vet... and work whatever hours you CHOSE to be 'on call'. If you are going to go to school that long, you should be more than happy with the field you end up in! :)
Hugs and good luck!

You could look into getting a job at a zoo as an animal caretaker? That would get you out of the office and you'd be around animals all the time.

Work in a zoo! Or wild animal park, Sea World, etc.
Run your own rescue site. You'd need the math to file for grants to get money to run th place. LOL

If you like to be around people you could go into sales. There are alot of sales positions in all industries. If you like animals you could also work part time with animals and part time somewhere else.

Have you considered being a Paramedic or better yet doing animal rescue. Start as a Tech for your local animal shelter and see where it goes.

hmmmm.....know yourself first. once you know yourself and what you are capable of doing....the rest is easy. U love animals, then try photojounalism. you know math, become a teacher and help the less fortunate kids who can't go to school. Go with what talent you have and use it with maximum effect to benefit the people (or animals) you help, then this will help you in return.

Biologist. Whether you choose to specialise in marine or land animals is up to you. There's plenty of opportunity to use your math skills within that field - lots of statistical analysis.
