No...It will only make a noise if someone is there to hear it, other then that it will just give off sound waves.

Yes just because nobody's around doesn't mean that the tree didn't make a noise. It doesn't matter the size of the tree the fact that it came in contact with another object gives off a little noise maybe not detectable by man but the fact that the limbs broke is a sound in itself.

Aha! The old Zen koan. Haven't heard that one for years. It's right up there with the sound of one hand clapping. Creating noise has nothing to do with perceiving sound. Therefore, it doesn't matter whether or not a tree has an audience when it takes a tumble, unless it whispers down on a cloud of milkweed, it makes a noise.
It may be the noise that annoys an oyster...

The tree falling will make sound waves. Nothing actually makes a noise until your ears and brain catch these waves and transform them into noises. So, to answer your question.....No, it will not make a noise. However, it will make a sound wave.

No. If there is no one within earshot to hear the tree fall then there will be no sound to make for the falling tree.

I Ching to the "max"! What is the sound of the clap of one hand? Etc., etc! Noise exists whether in the presence of anyone or not! It's just not "heard"! Then we need to discuss which came first the chicken or the egg, or perhaps, another philosophy or concept.

Normally, looking to gain any attention it can in a crowded forest, it would. What would be the sense with no witnesses? The tree would simply pick itself up and go on with it's daily existence.
