opening an ipod is a really bad idea, your best bet is to take to wal-mart and say you got it as a gift and when you tried to use it nothing worked they will probably just give you a knew one

It's probably dead. You could try putting it in a warm dry place, maybe wrapped in some paper towel near a heater (make sure it doesn't get too hot). Definitely don't plug it into anything or try to turn it on until it's completely dry.
You might be lucky. I had a USB memory stick that went through a wash 12 months ago and I still use it today.

Thats not covered underwarranty. Dont even plug it in or put in in your ear, its called electric.
The best solution, let it dry. if you have a fan put it infront of it for about 2 days.
If that does not work, you have to send it in to a repair center. Ask for a repair quote, if it cost more to repair get another. If you want the songs were not sure.

Put some rubbing alchohol in it, if you can. It will help evaporate any remaining water.

you cant. one guy tried and hit a capacitor and burnt it (saw it on slashdot, I think).
send it into the shop and dont tell them what happened. YOu MIGHT get it under warrenty.
