I'm a little bit sketchy about this trade, but it actually make sense. The Celtics were considering keeping the 7th pick, but with the slew of PG they tried out in the draft workout and with Delonte West not being consider a natural PG, they pull the trigger to get a veteran PG in Telfair, rather than giving the job to a rookie. Sending Raef LaFrentz along w/ Dan Dickau and Foye gives playing time for guys like Al Jefferson and other young guys on the team, while at the same time getting rid of some "bust" (not that Foye can play). The Blazers didn't want Telfair because it didn't work out as plan and plus they had two formidable guard in Steve Blake and Jarrett Jack, who plays in the same position as Telfair. Ratliff was a contract situation (he still owes big money) that the Blazers wanted to dump and wanted someone younger big man that can start or come off the bench, which would be LaFrentz.

The result of this trade is:
1) Telfair, Ratliff, and LaFrentz gets a fresh start with a new team (Telfair and LaFrentz getting playing time somewhere else)
2) The Blazers are in rebuilding mode, trying to build a nucleus of Zach Randolph, Aldridge, and Foye (Darius Miles may still be on a short leash).
3) Celtics needs to start playing their young guys, maybe give them starts at times.

Not sure if you're a Celt fan, but Ainge is really screwing up that team. Randy Foye was rated high on everyone's list. He is a tall, physical point guard. Lafrentz still has something to give whether it's 15 minutes and 3 pointers, and Dickau can be a decent bench warmer. And you get what???? Ratliff---one dimmensional defensive presence who is injured and in the decline of his career.
You get Telfair? An immature player that the Blazers could not wait to get rid of. Ha. Ha. Ha. And a pick? Aside form Arenas, what 2nd round pick makes an immediate impact. Ainge is an embarrassment to the Celts organization.
