Chicago has many zip codes for the area, if you can't get in touch with your friend to ask her for the zip code then I would just send her the letter without the zip code. The mailman should be able to sort out the zip code by the street name and your letter should reach your friend. I do the same if I don't know a zip code.

You have a computer. You have the answer. Go to Yahoo maps or MapQuest. Type in her address. The computer will supply the zip code including the +4. With that information your letter will go straight to her house.

you know my short SIMPLE answer (unlike the jerks before me) is that they all begin in 606
like for example, 606xx , where the x's are the last 2 digits that specify the neighborhood.

If you don't know the exact zip, just use the address and guess on the zip-code begining with 606, they mailmen should know where to send it with just the street address.
