Everybody has different answers and opinions for questions such as yours, and most of the people who answered your question so far are on the right track when it comes to answering questions such as yours, while giving their opinions for it at the same time. I personally think that the three most important things you need in order to make relationships work are as follows: 1. Trust- if you and your partner didn't trust each other, then why do you two even have a relationship? 2. Compassion for each other- if you two weren't compassionate enough for each other, then you would be better off as being friends, or even not seeing each other again for an unspecified period of time. 3. Consideration of your partner's feelings- If either one of you didn't have this or, even worse, if both of you didn't have it, then your relationship would be better off not happening at all rather than going down a cycle of constant arguing that would be going on between you and your partner constantly if you continued onward with your relationship.

i think the 3 most important things you need to make a relationship work would have to be respect, honesty, and to always be the real you (in other words- to not act like someone/ something your not!!)

RESPECT...(for yourself, themselves, and the people in thier lives
BEING OPEN AND HONEST.. (if you don't like something, don't shy away and not tell.. because it may be what they think about you.. or the situation
PERSONALITY...(if they can keep up with you.. if you like them funny, if you like them quiet.. it's your preference.. but whatever makes that small little spark that makes you say "okay this could definteley work"
it depends how you are as a person... if you are a smart-*** who loves to kid around, then you want someone who can keep up.. but not over power on the smart-*** because then you feel inferior to the comebacks they have..
