Change happens whether you pursue it or not. An organization that "does not pursue change" could fall into different categories. If it is the type that unconditionally resists change and tries to stay the same, it will fall apart. If it's just lax and lets things happen without pushing for anything, it will be subject to the luck of the draw.

One of two things will usually happen.

1) The organization will atrophy and fall apart--it will become obsolete and cease to exist as a meaningful organization. As change happens, we must change or we lose our meaning in the context of reality.

2) Change will happen to the organization--whether the organization is pursuing change or not. Sometimes we don't have to pursue change for it to find us.

It is hard to find an organization that is not changing. The question is whether the organization is embracing change and seeking to maintain its relevance.

Every company is either progressing or dying. If you don't pursue change in some form, then you're not progressing. Death is then the eventual result.
