Forever. The army is already building PERMANENT bases in Iraq. And to the statement that the Iraqi government is doing well because they are making decisions? Anyone can make decisions, it's enforcing them that is tricky part and the government has no influence outside of the green zone.

Funny thing.....usa is still in Germany, South Korea, and a few other places around the world including some hot spots.
The Muslim and Christian fight has been going on since the Crusades and earlier. Your question should go to the insurgents
that have created this problem in the name of religion. Frankly,
if there is a gun pointed at me, I will not just lay down and die.
I will take that person with me to the next level of existence.

Have you ever seen Lawrence of Arabia? In 1915 the British tried to stop the fighting between Shiitite and Sunni. They gave up. We are in a country which did not allow religious freedoms, such as the Madras school system employed in Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. They teach pure hate of the west.
Your answer is forever. Now I believe these ideals are allowed.

Bush said 2009! Convenient for him because he won't be president. He can't solve the mess he has made and he can't get out of it,so he will just pawn it off to the next president!
"See, free nations do not develop weapons of mass destruction."
—So W., does this mean the U.S. is not a free nation?...

Vote me in as President of the United States and I will get us free oil for life, bring our troops home in 30 days, and make that dam* country a glass parking lot. That would put a halt to terrorism once and for all. Them dam* camel jockeys would learn to make their country better before they ever thought about Fu*king with America ever again.

The fallout and clean up will take years - a decade at least until all troops are out - 5 years before we see any major progress.

A couple more years, probably. The Iraqi government is actually doing well (from a ruling and decision-making aspect), and their military is learning. Once that's in place, we can get the hell out of there.
